Joseph B. Swan, Jr., began his litigation experience as a Maricopa County Attorney.  While with the County Attorney's Office, Mr. Swan tried serious crimes including rape and murder.  Mr. Swan continued his criminal background, being one of the first Federal Public Defenders in the United States.  Mr. Swan tried cases involving Federal jurisdiction such as rape, bank robberies and murder.  In 1978, Mr. Swan began defending cases for numerous insurance companies with a medium sized law firm.  In 1983, Mr. Swan started his own firm and eventually joined forces with Turley Swan Childers & Torrens, P.C.  During his 40 years of practice, Mr. Swan has tried almost 150 cases, criminal and civil, to a jury verdict.  Mr. Swan has tried civil jury cases in every county in the State of Arizona.  As a result of his vast trial experience, Mr. Swan has been certified by the State Bar of Arizona in injury and wrongful death litigation and also has achieved the rank of Advocate with the American Board of Trial Advocates.
